Children can benefit from therapy in much the play-therapysame way as adults. They can explore feelings and learn new skills for managing emotions and building relationships. For children, we can use therapeutic approaches involving toys, games, and sand trays to provide play therapy in a non-threatening and relaxed environment.

Common Concerns

Everyone occasionally feels blue or sad. But these feelings are usually short-lived and pass within a couple of days. When you have depression, you can’t shake the feeling off for an extended period of time. It interferes with daily life and causes pain for both you and those who care about you. Depression is a common but serious problem.  (

Anxiety and Stress

Anxiety Disorders affect about 40 million American adults a year, causing them to be filled with fearfulness and uncertainty. Unlike the relatively mild, brief anxiety caused by a stressful event (such as speaking in public or a first date), anxiety disorders can get worse if they are not treated and can seriously impact your quality of life. Grief and Loss

Grief is a reaction to a major loss of someone or something. It is most often an unhappy and painful emotion.   Everyone feels grief in their own way. But there are common stages to the process of mourning that a person works through until they are able to accept the loss.

Adjustment Issues

Going through a big life change can sometimes become overwhelming. An adjustment disorder is an emotional /behavioral reaction that develops after a life stressor, which is stronger than what would be expected for the type of event that occurred. Sometimes, many factors come together and hinder you from coping like you normally would.

Experiences that overwhelm, harm, or scare us can leave a lasting impression. The symptoms can leave us stressed, depressed, and have negative consequences for our work and home life.

Feeling understood and understanding others is what allows us to deeply share one another’s lives. Often, couples or families come to counseling struggling with communication problems, which actually mask deeper relationship issues. Counseling can help you examine communication patterns and how these might be leading to misunderstandings, unmet needs, conflict, and even anxiety or depression.

Conflict Resolution/Arguments

Conflict resolution is an important part of any relationship at home, work or school. Conflict resolution plays a vital role in allowing two people to communicate and reconcile differing needs. Unfortunately, when conflict is handled poorly, it can cause distress in the relationship.

Self-esteem is a feeling of personal worth.  Your self-esteem creates the foundation for a full life, authentic relationships, and a feeling of well-being. Low self-esteem can lead to a negative outlook and hold you back from pursuing your goals.
